Compressed natural gas (CNG) engines perform differently than other types of engines, they require specific lubrication. Specialized additives are included in lubricants for CNG engines, sometimes known as CNG engine oils, to fix the problems caused by high combustion temperatures, increased oxidation rates, and a tendency to produce acidic byproducts.
